About the Book

What This Book is About

This ain’t a book that whispers to you. It doesn’t hand out comfort, clichés, or cute inspiration. It cuts. It confronts. It exposes the lies you’ve been living by and the ones you keep telling yourself. On Your Mark, Get Set, Grow was built for the ones who smile in public but suffocate in silence. For the ones tired of repeating the same cycles, bleeding from the same wounds, and pretending they’re okay. This book doesn’t want to make you feel better—it wants to make you evolve. It’s raw, real, and ready to hold a mirror to the parts of you that need to die for the real you to finally live.

Why I Wrote This Book

This book didn’t come from comfort—it came from chaos. It started in a prison cell, in rehab rooms, and in the darkest corners of survival. I didn’t write it to become an author. I wrote it because I refused to waste the pain. I wrote it for the people drowning in the same mindset that once tried to drown me. I wrote it because words saved me—so I’m using them to save somebody else. These pages were built through scars, setbacks, relapses, redemption, heartbreak, and rebirth. This isn’t a product. This is a process. A 39 year evolution poured onto paper so you can start yours.

How to Read This Book

This ain’t meant to be read in one sitting. This is a daily confrontation tool. Every story begins with: Take this day to think about… That’s not a slogan—that’s a challenge. Read one story a day. Let it hit. Let it irritate your excuses. Let it poke the part of you that still believes evolution is possible. Jump around if you need to. Betrayal? Go straight to it. Cycles and excuses? Find those. Spiritual confusion? It’s in here. There’s only one rule: Don’t read it to feel good. Read it to get better. Information supplied ain’t information applied. Highlighting don’t heal you—honesty does.

What’s Inside the Book

Your transformation is broken down into four unapologetic chapters:

Chapter 1 — Debunking the Clichés

“You Keep Believin’ It—That’s Why You Keep Bleedin’From It”  The feel-good lies you grew up with get torn apart. The clichés you never questioned? They’ve been sabotaging your growth. This chapter debunks every one of them.

Chapter 3 — Unfiltered Quotes

“Unfiltered. Unapologetic. Uncomfortable. Words with Brass Knuckles.”  This section is pressure. Every quote cuts. Every line confronts. No sugar. No spiritual dressing. Just truth with teeth.

Chapter 2 — Moral to the Stories “Miss the Message, Repeat the Misery”  These ain’t bedtime stories—they’re wake-up calls. Gritty, raw parables designed to crack denial, confront ego, and simplify truths that hit deep.

Chapter 4 — Spiritual Quotes

“Keep Playin’ With God If You Want To  Not churchy. Not cute. These spiritual gut-checks are designed to call out compromise, wake up your soul, and remind you God ain’t blind to your evil ways.

Who This Book Is For

This book isn’t tied to a demographic—it’s tied to the dismantled, the downtrodden, the deceived, the disturbed, the desperate, the disillusioned, the discouraged, the depressed, and the defeated. It’s for anybody life has punched, pressured, or pushed into a corner. It speaks to people from underserved communities, the ones rebuilding after trauma, the ones crawling out of addiction, incarceration, betrayal, or self-destruction. It’s for readers who’ve never connected with “traditional self-help” because traditional self-help never spoke their language—never told the truth the way they lived it. This book ain’t for the polished. It’s for the people fighting for their next breath.
